Strawberry Lemonade

Strawberry lemonade may be refreshing, but go for a berry smoothie if you want antioxidants!

Summertime smoothies are refreshing – but they’re also great ways to get in your antioxidants. As we all know, antioxidants help us to fight the signs of aging, boost our immune systems, and achieve an overall level of wellness. Antioxidants usually come from a healthy diet, but if you want to get an extra boost of these nutrition essentials, then why not try a smoothie that’s rich in berries?

Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries…all berries are rich in antioxidants as well as nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin E, dietary fiber, and manganese. In a smoothie, you get antioxidant power as well as several servings of fruit – all in one tasty beverage. It’s perfect for enjoying as a snack or as part of a healthy breakfast. Serve chilled as a refreshing summer treat – oh, and it’s gluten-free too!

Berry Antioxidant Rich Smoothie
•    ½ cup frozen blueberries
•    ½ cup frozen raspberries
•    ½ cup frozen strawberries
•    6 oz. coconut water
•    4 oz. Greek yogurt (or rice yogurt if you want dairy-free)
•    ½ tablespoon of honey

In a blender, combine together the berries, coconut water, and yogurt. Blend until smooth.

Like other berries? You can modify this recipe and substitute in blackberries, loganberries, huckleberries, currants, elderberries, gooseberries, or mulberries so that you have 1 ½ cups of mixed berries total.
