April is Autism Awareness Month
At OVitaminPro.com, we are always looking at what can be done in the world of natural healthcare. We like to put as much power back into the hands of each patient as possible and decrease their reliance on pharmaceuticals and expensive treatments whenever we can.
For parents and caregivers of children with autism, it is especially beneficial to have as many tools in your toolbox as possible; each option for treatment is a new chance to make a difference in the lives of those affected with autism. Obviously, treatment is determined on a case-by-case basis, but some general lessons can be learned from the experiences and research of others.
When it comes to autism, a couple of modalities stand out: improving glutathione levels and using a gluten-free, dairy-free diet.
If you haven’t yet made the connection between glutathiaone and autism, you are missing out. Research indicates a correlation between nearly universal depletion of glutathione levels and the incidence of autism. LifeWave Glutathione patches are easy to use: small half-dollar sized adhesive patches that you can apply to yourself and your child two to three times per week. Placement isn’t critical, but many users apply them just a couple of finger-widths below the belly button.
Another factor that may prove helpful is a gluten-free and dairy-free (GFDF) diet. We know that gluten and dairy can be potent stimulators of the antibody response; these antibodies don’t just affect the small and large intestines but travel through the blood stream attacking other organs. Which organs are affected depends on the genetic predisposition of the person. Quite often the brain is targeted. This can lead to problems such as ADHD, ataxia, movement disorders, headaches and, of course, ASD (autism spectrum disorder).
Unfortunately, there isn’t yet a patch that can fix gluten and dairy sensitivities, but finding alternative foods in your grocery store is getting easier.
I encourage you to give the GFDF diet a fair chance. This will mean no cheating for at least six weeks to get an idea of any changes. In some cases, dramatic changes will occur in just the first week, while in others the process will be slower and more subtle. Even small shifts in attention and behavior should be considered an encouraging sign and call for a continuation of the diet. Cyrex Labs has several test profiles that can help in the diagnosis. Yes, I totally agree. The glutathione patches and avoidance of wheat, gluten and dairy have helped me. I also use essential oils to help balance brain activity. Thanks so much!
Peggy
Thanks Peggy for your comment and the suggestion of oils.
I think that we need to be very aware of what we put into our bodies and work to strengthen our systems so that they do their jobs. Not eat or drink things that will weaken and destroy them. Using Apex nutritional supplements have really helped me and these have glutathione in them as well as cutting dairy and gluten as well as sweeteners.
I have seen improvements in autistic children at my place of employment with food allergy elimination and individually-prescribed homeopathic remedies. Dairy seems to be the most common allergen for all individuals, not just autistic clients.
I’ve been gluten free for a year now, still working on dairy free. I’ve tried glutathione in the past, might try it again in the future. I currently use phosphatidyl serine (Reserveage brand). I’m really glad you folks carry products for these things.
Glutathion recycler helps with hashimotos thyroiditis along with a GF diet too.
I’m so glad you are supporting the gluten free, dairy free element. I began going gluten free 7 yrs ago due to mainly digestive issues, but also find that it helps brain activity as well. I raised four out of 6 children with various forms of attentional issues, and wish that I had known about the gluten problems back then. I did bake my own breads and stayed away from dyes and preservatives, but gluten? who would have known then?
regarding autism specifically, another wise move is to eliminate flourescent light fixtures…I’m guessing the push for mercury bulbs is also an issue for these children.
glad to hear about the essential oils in this area too, thanks Peggy!
Thanks for sharing!
I have hashimotos as well and love the Apex Glutathione Recycler!
I am just starting to research this topic and found this information to be quite valuable. Thanks!
I agree with Renee. What we put into our bodies has an impact on the organ functions. A healthy lifestyle requires healthy living.
I’ve constantly taken glutathione products from Apex Energetics, and they help tremndously with mental fogs I fall into once my body begins breaking down from stress (adrenal fatigue and food intolerance). I literally can’t think strait and it helps reduce inflammation and antioxidize.
